I am a childbirth, parenting and lactation educator, labor and postpartum doula. I was the founder of Labor of Love Doula and Childbirth Services, Inc. selling that company after 24 years and the am now the owner of Athens Nurturing Nanas. I’ve worked with water births, natural births, twins, high-risk births & VBACs. I have doula’d for home, birth center and hospital births, working with both single moms & couples ranging in age from 17 to 46. I have been blessed with having doula’d for over 700 moms and babies by the summer of 2019.
I serve women in the metro area of Atlanta and Athens. I prefer to labor doula at home births, Piedmont Athens Regional, St. Mary’s in Athens , Atlanta Birth Center, Atlanta Medical, and North Fulton Regional Hospitals, but will consider other locations on a case by case basis. I only provide postpartum doula services in the Athens metro area and limited areas of Gwinnett. I teach at Intown Midwifery in Atlanta and in Athens at ReBlossom.
Married to Dallas since 1977, I am the mom to three naturally born, grown children, and grandmother to five naturally born grandchildren. My daughters experienced home births and hospital births, and I was present at all of them and able to catch my last granddaughter! I love being a nana, they are the reason we have moved to Athens. I live in west Athens, but close to a jump onto I-85 or 316 into Atlanta. The drive is really a straight shot into Atlanta with little traffic.
Oh yea, you may see pictures of me bald,- I have an autoimmune disease that causes hair loss- so I choose to sometimes shave what I have remaining and embrace the baldness! I have a great head!
